Chef Chris Gonzalez, Named Culinary Director at Winfield Street Coffee; Launches New Menu for 2023!

HEY STAMFORD

Winfield Street Coffee has lived up to its mission to be a community gathering coffee place where guests experience a warm smile, excellent coffee, and creative food.

Last year brought exponential growth for the company as they opened four brand new locations. Two in NYC and two in Naples, FL. Recently, the coffee shop released their new menu, which includes new items for breakfast and lunch as well as a variety of side dishes.

The new menu was brought to life under the direction of Winfield’s new culinary director, Chris Gonzalez, a name Fairfield County foodies may be familiar with! He has spent time in some of the top kitchens in Fairfield County, and most notably picked up accolades and awards through his popular mobile eatery, HAPA Food Truck.  The recognition includes being named one of the best and brightest talents in the restaurant business by “Eater” and the Travel Channel naming his “Hapa Burger” the top burger in CT!

Founder and CEO, Breno Donatti, is overjoyed to introduce Winfield’s new offerings and culinary director to the public. “I am excited to announce the launch of our new menu under the leadership of our new Culinary Director, Chris Gonzalez, formerly from HAPA Food Concepts. He has been working diligently with his team, including his right-hand chef for the Naples area, Chef Megan Banks, formerly from Stonebridge.  Together, they have produced a variety of fresh and creative pastries, desserts, and brunch selections, and the team and I are all thrilled to bring this new menu to our surrounding communities.”

The direction of the new menu takes into consideration the two styles of stores they currently operate: Café seating (Stamford, Westport, Naples South, Naples North) and Kiosk (Coastland, Croton, 86th St, 96th St). The Café seating stores now offer a sandwich focused full menu for breakfast and lunch, including a brand-new selection of sides.

Breakfast sandwiches include classics like bacon, egg, and cheese while the team has added vegetarian offerings like the “El Bagel Winfield” where avocado mash meets scallion cream cheese.

Lunch ranges from chicken parmesan to new bowl options like, “Waiting All Night” which combines rice, roasted pork, Pico de Gallo, balsamic vinegar, and more.

Among the new sides are parmesan polenta fries, cheddar and chive macaroni, and Heirloom tomato soup.  In addition, the kiosk in Naples’ Coastland Center Mall, the kiosk in New York’s Croton-Harmon Train Station, and the kiosks in the subways of NYC on 86th St and 96Th St, will all be receiving a fresh batch of grab & go snacks and sandwiches every morning.

On the coffee side, the intention and direction of Winfield’s coffee program has strengthened by the addition of their new Coffee Director, Caleb MacPherson, formerly from Narrative Coffee Roasters. Caleb has been working on refining all Winfield baristas’ training and adding his knowledge of the coffee roasting process to the coffee shops.

With the warmer weather approaching, and Winfield’s being a popular destination for outdoor dining, we can’t wait to see what else is on the horizon!
